Developed and delivered academic content in sport management, strategy, event organisation, sports history and the international sports movement. Also supported students as an academic tutor for their dissertations.

Conducted doctoral research focused on international sport systems, the Olympic Movement and institutional structures, establishing an intellectual foundation for later work across global sport.

Developed an early understanding of sport as a pathway for education, opportunity and cross-cultural exchange.

Impact

This academic foundation shaped Mayi’s long-term interest in sport as a system connecting education, leadership, institutions and human progress.

She later co-authored Pequeña Enciclopedia Olímpica y de la Cultura Física with Juan A. Martínez de Osaba y Goenaga. Published by Editorial Científico-Técnica, the book brings together essential concepts, organisations and historical figures from physical culture and the modern Olympic movement. It was conceived as a reference work for professors, students, commentators, sports journalists and wider audiences interested in sport and Olympism.
